My new morning coffee ritual in Linyi, thanks to a nifty coffee cup filter bought in Hong Kong (first appreciated in Vietnam) and Allegro coffee brought back from the States. In case you wondering, a cup of good coffee, not Nescafe, in Linyi averages 35RMB ($5/Euro 3.26).
First, boil the water using this state-of-the-art kitchen stove.
Set up the coffee contraption and add coffee grounds
Pour the water over the grounds and wait as the water filters through.
And that, readers, is how one gets good quality coffee without the expense or bother of a coffee maker. The best coffee for this is, of course, Vietnamese Moka coffee, but the Red Sea Blend from Whole Foods is good, too.

you can get them super small and they are awesome
I had one! It was great! It’s all we used when we lived in Spain & Canada. Unfortunately, the last time we moved it got left in a locked cabinet that we lost the key to… I’ll definitely get another one on my next visit to Spain. In my mind, the moka percolator is the only way to make “real” coffee.
The main reason I bought the coffee contraption is because I liked it so much when we were in Vietnam. The coffee in Vietnam is much stronger, however, and what I am trying to recreate here is not nearly strong enough to wake me up completely. I really miss just going downstairs to a cafe for my cafe cortado.
