I Have Been Drinking the Milk!

in China, Environment, Expat Life, Food, Health

The Melamine contamination has spread to liquid milk. It has been found in the milk produced by the biggest dairies in China, the ones that produce the milk I buy. Crap!!

I don’t like milk. I can’t drink it. Never have. But I like it in my coffee… and I’ve consumed a TON of yogurt products here. (No, seriously, at one point I had an almost completely yogurt diet.) Have I been contaminated? Do I have kidney stones? Is renal failure imminent? Nah, I doubt it, but it makes you think. And wonder – what else am I ingesting that is potentially harmful? (And the DH loves milk.)

I’ll check out the nearby shops for milk availability later. Hong Kong has pulled all Mengniu products from their shelves, we’ll see what the mainlanders do.

Anything for a buck in this country. That is what it has come down to. Money, money, money. Mao would be spinning in his grave, if he had actually been buried.

you can´t eat anything anymore. This kind of stuff doesn´t just happen in China, it seems like it´s constant. That´s it, I´m moving to a farm and eating all my own stuff.

I like Bluestreak’s comment bout moving to a farm. I’m sure it’s in the back of lots of people’s minds. The world is going crazy and sadly money is driving this. Fortunately there are some really good people out there too and we can only hope they win out in the end (this is sounding like something out of ‘Star Wars’ – ‘let the peace be with you’).

In NZ we do have a good organic supply and though it’s more expensive I am preferring to eat less and enjoy the quality; rather than risk the sprayed, modified versions.

Seriously though, I do hope neither of you suffer any ills and can imagine it must be a deeply frightening situation to be surrounded by.

If you develop kidney stones, you might want to try taking Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with water. Take ACV for your overall health, it is very healthy. ACV = 苹果醋
