Xinjiang Lamb Kebabs
2008 International Beer Festival
Qingdao, China
The Qingdao International Beer Festival takes place every year in August. This year it was delayed to September due to the Olympics. You can visit beer tents from Paulaner, Heineken, Hofbrauhaus, Qingdao, etc., eat lots of barbeque foods and get on dubious carnival rides. For us, the best thing about the festival was the copious amounts of lamb kebabs prepared in the Xinjiang style. Xinjiang is the western most province of China and is home to the Muslim Uygur people who make the best bread (flatbread, naan style) and kebabs in China!
Photo Friday is like Wordless Wednesday…great photos, with a travel theme. See more here at Delicious Baby.

China has been calling my name for a very long time. It’s only a question of how!!!

Interesting photo, and story to go with it!
China never fails to take me by surprise—great shot.
Don’t really think of beer festivals in China – Germany yes, China no.
I wish we had more street or festival food like this here. I always love watching shows like Tony Bordain’s “No Reservations” when he goes off in search of street food in some exotic location. They won’t even license a hot dog cart to sit on a corner during the summer in our town…
Thanks for stopping by everyone!
heatheronhertravels – Qingdao was once a German colony and China’s Qingdao beer was created during that time. The city still has German style architecture, Christian churches and the original brewery.
Dominique – I love “No Reservations”! Street food is my passion and sometimes I think that is why I love Southeast Asia so much!
Marina – China is a wonderful place to visit. It’s a bit overwhelming in its size and number of things to do, however. I’d go for Guilin and the Li River and Yunnan Province as must sees!
Wow. Beer and Mideastern cuisine … in China! So interesting. I want to go!
