Brrrr

in China, Environment, Expat Life, Linyi

For the last week our apartment complex has been in shambles, with trenches being dug everywhere. What in the heck is going on? Turns out that a little maintenance was needed on the complex central heating system. All of the heating pipes are being replaced.

One has to wonder why this sort of project was begun in late November, when nighttime temperatures have already plummeted below 0… We have central heating radiators throughout the apartment and electric air conditioners in our bedrooms. (Which I blame for my scratchy throat and impending cold. sniff, sniff.) Without the central heat the kitchen and living room are unbearable, and it is only November. My least favorite chore in the world is now washing dishes in the very cold water, since we do not have hot water in kitchen.

Winter is on its way, Linyi!

I believe I’d have to tell your DH to get his ass in the kitchen and wash the dishes for a change! It’s only fair.

We have a deal – he cooks and I wash the dishes. I’m a terrible cook!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Wow, you are out in the boonies, aren’t you? Not so for us – in many ways, Beijing is the cushiest post we’ve had. Starbucks! And grocery stores! And massages! So I can’t complain. I’m glad I found your blog, though – looks interesting.

Hey Donna, I’m in your city as we speak. I’ve been in Beijing only 28 hours and I’ve had three Starbucks! I’m reveling in it! You’re so lucky! Thanks for commenting. I’ll be following your blog!

As crazy as it looks, I would love to visit china, exactly because of all the craziness that there is there!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Marina – if you enjoy craziness, you will love China. There’s a lot more to love about it, too. I really enjoyed the crazier aspects of life in Costa Rica, though, like the crater sized potholes on the streets of San Jose… I miss a lot of things about CR. Could be a post….hmm…
