2008 – The Year That Was

Suffered from China-Related Rot Gut many times. In fact, I may or may not have a parasite. Good times!

Avoided the doctor yet another year. (I don’t know if this is something to celebrate or not. Will make appointment soon…)

Could not avoid the dentist. Had a root canal.

Enjoyed three “new to me” TV series – True Blood, Mad Men and Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations. Am in love with www.youku.com. Spent most of the year pining for more Lost.

Discovered I like playing Mexican Dominoes, especially when Lortabs are involved. (Played immediately after root canal.)

Procrastinated learning Mandarin yet another year. I know, I know.

During our road trip through Spain, got to know Tom Tom and now I think he’s a genius! L-O-V-E GPS!

One night, threw caution to the wind and ordered every dessert item on the Pizza Hut menu. Well, not just me. There were others there.

Came to fully appreciate the joys of coffee, without sugar.

Finished my Master’s of Library Science degree. Now that I’m a librarian, what’s next?

Celebrated my seventh wedding anniversary. Still no seven-year-itch.

Was kicked out of China for the Olympics! Yeah!

Ate a lot of lamb.

Turned 32. Feel 22. Look …?

Became an officially licensed FAA Ground Instructor. (Nerd-dom confirmed)

Traveled a lot – Spain, Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau, USA, Spain again, Thailand again, Austria. Still no free frequent-flier ticket.

Blogged approximately 155 times. Not great. I plant to blog a LOT more in 2009. Are you ready?

2009 – The Year To Come

Uncertainty looms… Where will we be when 2010 rolls around?

Continued travel – starting with a trip to Vancouver, Canada. That’s right – we will spend Chinese New Year in the world’s biggest Chinatown! And there is still plenty of Asia to see!

I know I cried wolf all last year, but 2009 is it! This is the year we leave the Mainland! It’s a new expat roost for us! And I mean it this time.

All the standard-issue New Year’s Resolutions apply – do everything better and procrastinate less! Also, try not to use the word ’so’ so much and reduce use of exclamation points! :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope your new year brings you much joy!
¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
