Back in the Swing of Tulsa

in Back Home, Expat Life, Travel

Have I mentioned before how I love to travel but I sometimes hate the traveling part? That’s how I feel right now. Yesterday was another fun-filled day at several airports. I was supposed to leave Vancouver for Houston at 8AM… We finally left at 1PM. Why the delay? Evidently, the mechanic “left the plane on” overnight (how they explained it to us) and the onboard battery was dead. After two hours it still hadn’t taken a charge so a new battery had to be driven from Seattle to Vancouver. Good times. I bet that mechanic is not having a very good week, if he still has a job.

I guess I can’t complain, I could be at work. ;) Instead, I am in Tulsa, Oklahoma where I can go to lunch and have great conversations with my SIL and her friend, where I can jump on a trampoline with my niece and nephew, where I can browse for hours at Sephora, where I can soak up Americana at the mall and where I can enjoy delicious homemade desserts.

I’m also playing with my new camera. Photos to come if I can figure it all out!

So what sort of funny questions about life in China are you encountering back in Tulsa? I’m also from the Midwest, so I get some really far-out questions and comments about my expat life in Iceland. (“Where the hell’s that?” some ask…) Mostly, I get asked if I’ve met Björk yet. Ummm, no. Or if it’s true that Greenland is ice and Iceland is green. I can only imagine how many times people have asked you if you’ve tried dog yet.
; ‘ ) Stay strong! I look forward to the next post!

Sincerely,
Your Iceland reader
