Rainy Day in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 2006
Travel is not always sublime! Even in paradise there are grumpy, gray days. Like this one in Kuala Lumpur when the skies suddenly opened and poured buckets down on us. Of course, I was ill prepared, wearing inappropriate footwear. Everyone in KL wears plastic flip-flops and now I know why. My favorite espadrilles later swelled up to the size of grapefruit. It was so hot and muggy and all I wanted to do was get to the other side of this street, where the DH and friend M stood waiting… and laughing.
I’ve been sick for the last few days and I haven’t felt much inspired to travel – thus the gloomy weather shot! For more Photo Friday featuring travel photos, visit Delicious Baby.

This totally takes me back to traveling in Asia during monsoon season. I remember watching out my window at the Rex Hotel in Saigon as kids ran up and down the sidewalk, sliding on their bums in the slick rain. I never laughed so hard!
I was in SE Asia last year during the monsoon season, and I remember running thru 4 inches of standing water on the street, trying to make our train in time. The bottom 4 inches of my luggage was also soaked. Yuck! But, it was fun! We don’t get rainstorms like that here in Seattle!

I love a good rain storm! Come August that will look pretty refreshing since I live in the desert. Ciao!
Hope you’re feeling better soonest and see sunny days ahead!
Hopefully the rest of this trip was more fun for you.
Ew! I can stand the rain as long as the lightening doesn’t come with it!
