This group of older Chinese ladies sit on the street every afternoon selling bunches of leafy green vegetables.

You can find spinach, chrysanthemum leaves, kale, bok choy and a few other unknown vegetables, some of which resemble random weeds you and I would pull from our yards. (If I had a yard.) The DH and I buy our vegetables from the street vendors outside of our apartment complex because the prices are great and we enjoy the interactions. Yesterday we decided to buy some greens for a salad and rice dish we wanted to prepare.

This fun-loving auntie really wanted me to buy her spinach, even though I had already bought one bunch of chrysanthemum leaves from her. I didn’t really want spinach so I moved along and bought a huge bunch of kale from the woman sitting next to her. Spinach lady wasn’t giving up that easily. She demanded I buy her spinach, finally thrusting the bunch into my bag. As the DH shot a photo, I relented and paid up the 1RMB (15¢).

Ha, ha! That is too funny! I love our feira (farmer’s markets/street vendors) here. It is the best thing about Brazil in my opinion. I have a few favorite vendors there. There is this elderly couple who only sell limes. They are the cutest!
Aww. The elderly selling things on the street really gets me. I always buy from the old ladies and the occasional old man. They can fleece me, too, because I find it so difficult to bargain with them!
I really miss Linyi. I could not imagine that this could be happening…Im ok in my job, but I miss the Chinese food very much…. and its price!! I wish you are spending a quiet time there… A big hug.
