CB Hell

The morning started out sunny & humid. I should have known something was up. “Thunderstorm! Thunderstorm!” I can hear our Chinese staff calling excitedly. Thunderstorms clouds are known as “CBs” here, short for cumulonimbus clouds. At flight schools in the US, thunderstorms are nuisances that shut down operations until they pass. Here, CBs are serious business. As in, “Oh my god, there are CBs in the area!!!” Even if it is bright and sunny, a CB spotted 40 kilometers away will lead to chaos. “The CBs are coming! The CBs are coming!” I might be exaggerating. One thing is for sure, a CB is here this morning. It’s rainy and windy, and I’m glad I’m inside!

In other news, I love my web host, Laughing Squid. They’re the best! I have been trying to turn my post URLs into something prettier than http://global-gal.com/?p=123 for quite some time. Everytime I did what I thought I was supposed to do, I’d break my website. Internal Server Error!! Laughing Squid Helpdesk to the rescue. Man, they must think I’m a moron. Anyway, now you will see my post URLs are all pretty and lovely: http://global-gal.com/2009/04/15/cb-hell

Yo, the thunder was so loud that it woke me up and shook my bed! I honestly thought the building next to mine was coming down! I did, however, ignore it enough to sleep an extra hour. Hey, i might as well be sleeping!

Hi Hek! This is the kind of weather we have all August – storms every afternoon with lots of loud thunder, rain & wind. Our building is kind of drafty, so the wind is much more dramatic. I’d prefer to still be at home behind concrete, sleeping. BTW, I love your videos!
