China Reflections
I’m back in Linyi and to be perfectly honest, I am suffering from some serious post-vacation blahs. I am not at all sure how I feel about being back in China. Or more specifically, Linyi. This little city is feeling just a little bit too little these days.
September 1st was the fourth year anniversary of our move to China. What was expected to last one year has stretched on and on. Seriously, many of our friends have bets going that we actually live the rest of our lives in China. We always say we’re leaving, but we never do. (This year we must blame the economic crisis.) And I have a lot of reflection to do on this topic. Am I happy in China? Are my bad days outnumbering my good days? I’m not sure…
It’s always hard to get back into the swing of things after a vacation, especially after spending three weeks in one of my favorite places. Once I’ve unpacked, been to the supermarket, and drunk insane amounts of coffee, I will be posting more regularly.
Warning: there could be whining and ranting. There will be vacation photos.

Welcome back! Hope your China doldrums pass quickly (will you go anywhere over Golden Week?) I often think thinking about our next round of travel helps me feel less frustrated by the things I find more challenging with jet-lag!
This is also the third summer I’ve been quoted saying we’d be repatriating “next summer”!

Oooh I had forgotten all about Golden Week! I don’t think we’ll be able to go anywhere, since there is lots of flying going on at our school, but I am still planning a trip to Laos, which I hope we can take sometime this fall.
September 1st is my birthday… Interesting.
