It’s seriously cold here in Harbin. Seriously cold!
I think both the DH and I have second guessed our decision to come here over Spring Festival. Since the festival is a family holiday, restaurants and shops have all pretty much been shut. We’re hoping things will be open tomorrow. There are very few people in the street. Of course, it is -19C out. The people that are out in the street are setting off fireworks and burning paper money. All we can hear, in all directions, is the boom! boom! boom! of firecrackers and rockets. It has been going on for hours and will likely continue for hours more.
Our first impression of Harbin? Hmmm… I’m really not too sure… So far we’ve been ripped off by a taxi driver, eaten a dismal dinner in a Russian cafe and tried to stay warm in our mildly heated hotel room. Tomorrow is another day, right?
