He explained to them that no insult was meant, but that I had just had a baby and that I still hadn't recovered and that I needed his help. They knew that he wasn't lying, but took offense anyway. They wouldn't release them from their work permits, so it really made our applying for new work permits and resident permits difficult. Fortunately, my husband's was close to expiring, so we weren't in too much trouble (and we got a nice free week in HK while things were sorted).
