I don't know if any of my readers out there are interested in web design or not, but this article at Smashing Magazine is a very thorough assessment of the state of web design in China. For the geeks (like me.) :) (0)

This can't be a very auspicious way to begin the year of the tiger. Sad. Sad. Sad. (0)

Yup, well, I did it again and changed the blog theme once more! This is the theme I used last year, but some incompatibilities led me to change it. An update meant I was able to use it again. This one has always been my favorite. What do you think? (0)

It never fails - I will be feeling down and frustrated about Linyi and something/someone makes me smile. So checkout girl at the supermarket - thank you for speaking absolutely perfect and charming "supermarket" English with me. You made my day and you should be proud of your delightful customer service. (0)

The electricity in our neighborhood has gone out four times in the last hour... and it's -2C outside... and our central heating was turned off last month since, officially, it's Spring here in Linyi. I guess everyone's got their electric heaters turned on. (0)

Expatriate Games is a China expat blog that features excellent photos. See his 24 Hours in Liuzhou Over Chinese New Year photo essay for a glimpse into what it is like here. While you're there, browse around as his posts feature insights and photos that are very worthwhile. (0)

Just fantastic... my 8AM flight to Linyi has been delayed... and delayed... and now the entire flight has been put up in a hotel to wait out the supposedly poor weather in Linyi. While it is a nice gesture and the hotel is a good one, this can't bode well for me being back in Linyi for work today, can it? (0)

Just found a lone can of Dr. Pepper in Beijing hostel bar... So it's the highlight of my week - is that sad? (0)

I'm back in Beijing and compared to Harbin it is positively balmy. The DH is back in Shandong to compete in the final ski race that he started last month at Yi Shui. First place is a car! Right now I am at a coffee shop/bookstore (The Bookworm) where everyone around me has an a) iphone and/or b) Mac laptop of some kind. I can't decide whether I am among kindreds or just really trendy types... and what that says about me (since I've got my MacBookPro AND iphone out AND connected to wifi.) (0)

How difficult can it be to just shift weight from one foot/ski to another? I've never been a coordinated person... I hate to say it but I might have to give up sports. The simplest concepts just seem beyond me. A full Yabuli report is coming soon. UPDATE: We've now explored another resort and I think I might have prematurely thrown in the towel... I've decided to give snow sports another chance tomorrow. ;) (2)
