Convenience and efficiency, hands down. It is just easy to get things done in this country, with an absolute minimum of hassle. Today, as I was driving around Tulsa, I saw a small, hand painted sign in front of a house. “Rabbits & Notary” it read. See, that is exactly what I am talking about. [...]

Okay, so this is really gross, but I’ve been trying to think of ways that the US surprises me, or how it is dramatically different from China, and I have to admit that ever since I got here, I’ve kind of been freaked out about what to do with the toilet paper… See, in China, [...]

Yep, that’s me, right there next to the Journal of Perinatology. For the past few weeks and for a few weeks more, I am completing an internship at the University of Oklahoma Library in Tulsa. The internship is required for my MLS degree from Texas Woman’s University (except they actually call it a practicum, [...]

Sing along with me now, “I’m coming to America…” That’s right, it’s not just a Neil Diamond song, it’s also my new tagline. I’ll be there on Saturday, following another long, heinous journey across oceans and continents. I would have announced this earlier, but we’ve had really crappy Internet connections as-of-late. It’s a miracle I [...]

Now for something a little more light-hearted. What is backyard archeology? Well, I read about this archaeologist who is blogging about the ruins of childhood – the leftovers of tree houses and forts in backyards all across America (and the world). And I was just fascinated by this! The idea of an old, neglected tree [...]

Just how much does America “support the troops”? Just ask the wife of Gerald Cassidy. Tying a yellow ribbon around a tree or flying a flag is not enough. We should be outraged at the neglect our sick soldiers receive. America needs to make health care a top priority – for all!
