Travel

The PLA Couldn’t Keep Us Away When the DH and I travel we rarely make elaborate itineraries, preferring to meander around with a few set destinations in mind. I prepare for these trips by reading travel blogs, forums and guidebooks. I get a reasonable idea of what is out there and then we just go [...]

in China, Travel, Xinjiang

A Surprise Holiday to Xinjiang Province China’s National Day is coming up, which means another Golden Week. Although our school was initially set to work during the nation-wide week-long holiday, it looks like we’ve got a surprise! holiday. We’re thinking about going to the far west province of Xinjiang. Yes, the one that had all [...]

Tales From Guangzhou I’m back from Guangzhou and pleased to report that I speak pretty darn good English. I will not know the results of my exam for two weeks, but I’m sure I did okay. This was my first trip to Guangzhou, and I only saw a tiny little corner of the city, but [...]

This afternoon I was freaked out when a couple of the other flight instructors in our school informed me that we might be flying through the remnants of Typhoon Morakot, but luckily our flight was relatively calm. I [...]

Why is packing a suitcase such a pain in the arse? This isn’t exactly rocket science, but something happens to me when I look into that empty suitcase abyss. I can no longer think rationally about the items required for travel. I wander around looking at shoes and clothes and hair dryers and I suddenly [...]

What a day. It is cloudy and rainy. The perfect day to be at home in bed. I have been tempted multiple times today to just put my head down and sleep. Instead, I have been researching ticket options for our upcoming trip to Spain. I am always astounded by prices. But what can you [...]
